Tantalus Lookout

honolulu | sunset/night

This was a crazy cool spot to stumble across. We drove all the way up to the top of the lookout spot to see the most amazing view of Diamond Head, Waikiki and downtown Honolulu. Next time I come back, I'll definitely check it out during the day- there's a huge grassy spot to set down a blanket and chill.

China Walls

honolulu | sunset/night

china walls

This was absolutely one of the coolest and scariest things I did on Oahu. China Walls is a known spot for a killer view of the sunset. Tucked away in a neighborhood, the spot immediately feels special and one to remember. A couple of my friends and I decided to brave the jump off the wall into the water- only thing is you have to be wildly careful to time it correctly with the on coming waves that crash into the wall. Sometimes they can be too big, they'll splat you across the rocks. (I didn't know this until the next day of course haha) Be sure you're ready to face a bit of the scary process in allowing the waves to hoist you up on to the ledges to climb back to the top of the wall before the next wave comes. Alas- if you don't do the jump, it's still a gorgeous spot for sunset with very chill vibes.

Waikiki Wall

Waikiki | sunset/night

This was another hilariously nerve wracking but entirely fun find. Depending on the tide, you'll notice this wall, or walking path is visible and easy to traverse out to the end of it. A solid spot for a photo at sunset, you'll definitely get your shoes wet as the waves crash gently over the wall. Be careful not to go out when the tide is too high. When you reach the end, turn back, take a big breathe in and bask in the beauty.

Waikiki Beach

Waikiki | sunset/night

Whether it's in the middle of the afternoon, sunset at the beach, or at night and getting to see Honolulu lit up- Waikiki Beach is a view spot on it's own. Look out for the Banyan Trees, you really won't miss them. They're incredible to marvel over.
